Profiling the audience

The magazine that i am creating is similar to established magazines such as scratch on which a wrote a a textual analysis. By selecting a specific music genre it then means you can focus on a particular market. The chosen genre of my magazine is hip-hop. The genre then has a direct effect on the particular age group, for example the majority of the audience who consume hip-hop music has changed in modern times. The audiences who listen to hip-hop now are younger appealing to ages as young as 13 years of age. As a result of this in-order for my magazine to be successful this audience must be at the center of the composition and marketing of the magazine. For an established magazine such as scratch there target audience is 16-28+ similar to my target audience which is 17-28. As a result both music and the teenagers who listen to it have now become in part what is known as youth culture where both come hand in hand with the youths of today.
As well as this the age of are artist within the genre has been become younger as time goes on which indicates for a magazine of this genre that by not aiming at this age group it will be difficult to become a noticeable or established magazine.

Jerry is 18 years old and a passionate hip-hop fan. Not only is Jerry a consumer of the hip-hop music genre but fits in with the age range at which my magazine is aimed at making him a perfect example of my audience. jerry is of a black background this is the ethnicity of the majority of the audience who consume music of this genre, as well as this the large majority of artist of the genre of a black ethnic background. However there has been significant growth in other audiences from different ethnic background who now consume the genrewhich has welcomed even more young audiences  Jerry is a perfect example of what is known as youth culture, he regularly attends parties  social events and etc, which are all popularized within the hip-hop music genre. Therefore taking this into consideration it makes Jerry the ideal example of my target audience.
